Free Training Courses
BDAT employs its own Training Officer who delivers a variety of free training courses. All training can be tailored to meet specific needs and requirements and can be delivered either at our Head Office or at a venue to suit you.
The following courses are available:
- Legal and Illegal Drugs
- Cannabis Awareness
- Cocaine and Crack Awareness
- Alcohol Awareness

Legal and Illegal Drugs - This course can be delivered as a two hour session or as a half or full day event.
Aim: To increase awareness of legal and illegal drugs
Objectives: By the end of the session, delegates will be able to:
- identify different categories of drugs and the potential physical, psychological and social consequences:
- identify the legal classification of drugs;
- understand attitudes around drug use and drug users and the impact this can have; and
- understand appropriate responses to drug users and the support services available.

Cannabis Awareness - This course is delivered as a two hour session.
Aim: To raise awareness of cannabis and the harms associated with cannabis use
Objectives: At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- understand the history of cannabis;
- identify the potential physical, psychological, legal and social consequences of cannabis use;
- understand harm reduction information and the risks associated with cannabis use; and
- understand appopriate reponses to cannabis use and the support services available.

Cocaine and Crack Cocaine - This course is delivered as a two hour session.
Aim: To raise awareness of cocaine and crack cocaine and the harms associated with their use.
Objectives: At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- understand the history of cocaine and crack cocaine use;
- identify the potential physical, psychological, legal and social consequences of cocaine and crack cocaine use;
- understand harm reduction information and the risks of cocaine and crack cocaine use; and
- understand appopriate responses to cocaine and crack use and the support services available.

Alcohol Awareness - This course is delivered as a two hour session.
Aim: To increase awareness of the harms associated with alcohol misuse.
Objectives: At the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- understand the physical, psychological, legal and social consequences of alcohol use;
- understand levels of safe alcohol use and the unit system;
- identify the risks associated with alcohol use in relation to crime, sexual health and the use of alchol with other drugs; and
- understand appopriate responses to alcohol misuse and the support services available.
